Alphabetical Ingreedients

Armadillo Bile - Used to protect against external psychic penetration. Used in the Wit-Sharpening Potion.

Ashwinder Eggs - used to heat potions to higher temperatures. Found frozen so that they can be used in potion-making. Used in the Pepperup Potion.

Asphodel - used to increase the potency of sleeping potions. Used in the Draught of Living Death.


B

Bezoar - A very good antidote to most magical poisons.

Bicorn Horn - used to eat away human flesh. Used in the Deflating Draught.

Billywig Stings - used mainly in levitation potions. Also used as a main ingredient in Fizzing Whizbees.

Beetle Eyes - used to help potions travel through the bloodstream quicker. Used in the Pepperup Potion.

Boomslang Skin - used to help the transformation process caused by the Polyjuice Potion. Usually shredded so more can fit into the cauldron.


C

Caterpillars - used to enhance the effects of the Shrinking Solution. Not usually sliced, though in the Shrinking Solution, they are to be cut open. Used to help transformations.


D


Daisy Roots - usually found chopped when they are going to be used for potion-making. Adds balance and consistency to potions. Used in Shrinking Solutions and the Draught of Peace.

Dragon Blood - very powerful potion ingredient. Can be used to enhance the potency of just about any potion. Used in the Pepperup Potion.

Fluxweed - must be picked at the full moon for it's magical properties to be released. Intensifies potions made after the full moon. Used in the Polyjuice Potion.


G

Ginger Root - Used to enhance mental agility and power. Used in the Wit-Sharpening Potion.


H

Horned Slugs - used to help in the disintegration of boils on human skin. Used in the Boil-Cure Potion.

Hellebore - used in it's syrup form, it helps calm people down. Used in the Draught of Peace.

Knotgrass - helps preserve balance and thickness in a potion. Used in the Deflating Draught and in the Polyjuice Potion.

L

Lacewing Flies - must be stewed for 21 days before they can be used. Extends the amount of time a potion's effects will last. A prime ingredient in the Polyjuice Potion.

Leeches - used to thicken potions and to stick to human tissue. An ingredient in the Polyjuice Potion, the Deflating Draught, and the Shrinking Solution (leech juice).


M

Mandrake Root - very powerful restorative; restores those who have been petrified to their original state.

Monkshood - goes by the names "aconite" and "wolfsbane". Plant that prevents someone to cause harm. Used in the Wolfsbane Potion.

Moonstone - used in powdered form for potions. Brings balance to the potion. Used in the Draught of Peace.

Nettles - can only be used once they have been dried. Antidote for some poisons. Used in the Boil-Cure Potion.

Porcupine Quills - must be added to potions after the cauldron has been taken off of the fire, otherwise they have been known to "shoot" out of the cauldron. Adds color and potency to a potion. Used in the Boil-Cure Potion.

Q

Rat Spleen - powerful organ used to shrink objects in size. Used in the Shrinking Solution.


S

Scarab Beetles - usually crushed when used in potion-making. Although their shells have been known to be used whole in some potions. Used for the scarab's high intellect. Used in the Wit-Sharpening Potion.

Shrivelfig - must be peeled in order for the magical properties to be released. Causes things to shrink. Used in the Shrinking Solution.

Snake Fangs - also crushed when used in potion-making. Leaving them solid will cause the potion to become poisonous. When diluted in a potion, it is a cure for boils. Used in the Boil-Cure Potion.

Unicorn Hair - a very powerfully magical ingredient. The healing powers of unicorns rival those of a phoenix. Used in the Deflating Draught.

W

Wormwood - used as a variation of an ingredient. Infusions are the most common type of variation. HIghly effective sleeping plant. Used in the Draught of Living Death.
